It is not long before Lucy catches on that she is an integral part in discovering a cure.
Periodically they go out and gather scavengers, as people like Lucy are known, and bring them back to the hospital to infect them with strains of the plague. I never cease to be amazed that we are living well into the 21st century, and American culture, having enjoyed the benefits of modern science for more than a century, is now being overtaken by what can be fairly described as anti-science madness.

Environmental catastrophes and epidemics brought humankind back to basics: Lucy meets Aiden and is introduced to the people ashex his group when he saves her from a pack of dogs that were apparently sent by these sweepers to hunt for her. I have never been disappointed with a dystopian novel yet, each one is different and original and I love the dystopian genre very much. I always struggle with dystopian survival books.
The story is very fast-paced and new developments occur to hold the reader’s interest. But Treggiari actually builds a far more convincing dystopian future than Suzanne Collins, whose Hunger Games trilogy has spawned a growth spurt of teenpocalypse fiction on the YA shelves.
