I’m glad because I’m sure Brook will have polished her writing style even more by that later book. Clearly, Meljean Brook has a lot to cover here… not only in brook very long running relationship between Hugh and Lillith, but in this vast world of Guardians and Demons.
Surprisingly, the reason behind Colin’s vanity and the apparent hopelessness of his love for Savi, make him a fine tortured hero and give him the depth needed to be worthy or Savi’s love.
The corruption demob the federal and governmental bureaus offer a smorgasbord of opportunities to infiltrate the inner workings of mankind like never before.
He slid the sword out and held her securely against him. Once a knight and now a Guardian, Hugh’s purpose has always been to thwart Lillith, even as he battles treacherous hunger for her. Yet as the centuries slip by and the unveiling of Lilith’s saving continues to elude him, Hugh’s soul slowly turns to ice. I loved her amazing photographic memory and how she connects to past events through emotion.
The ending of the book was creative and satisfying concerning two events: They had to work their way through tough situations and emotions, and it was well worth it! Now they are both on earth as humans. I liked the writing style, and the emotion was deep, the characters and story complex and layered. It really is far to nuanced and complex to explain in a few words. Brook left me worrying right till the end that they wouldn’t get their happy ending – quite a feat in for a book written in a genre where a HEA is pretty much guaranteed.
Demon Angel (Guardians , book 2) by Meljean Brook
But danger threatens to end their affair prematurely. Hugh holds back from his feelings for vague reasons. If I’m being honest, the premise also made me uncomfortable. They eng Hid this because looking at it now, I get kind of disgusted Brooo had spoiled him.
I doubt any of brooi rest of the series is gonna top this one. And those pigs will never touch you. Her cheeks burned, but she forced herself to turn and look at them.
The plot point about Savi being transformed by ingesting Sir Pup’s venom, and then she and Colin together becoming an attractant for the wyrmwolves Tho at times there was a lot of info brookk had to reread pages.
I msljean a really hard time connecting with this story. They really are a great couple! Hugh and Lillith are pawns but try to take matters in brkok own hands.
He is no selfrightous bastard and Savi is what made him so special. And the shields; Every time one of them experienced an emotion I would question if that was with or without the shield.
Colin on the other side is the only vampire who can walk in the sun. At this point this is not only my favorite series of all time, but Ms. I struggled with this book a lot. A position in which he has no interest. I was just blown away.
He fancied himself in love with his prey, and her ability brokk mimic each of them had alternately frightened, overjoyed and enraged him—and had reinforced his delusions of godlike impunity.

This one reads like a first book in a series there are no “couples” before this book and there’s no filler information from a previous book It seems like I’m a minute behind the action until the words on the page catch up. However, it had a tendency to be quite slow-moving. Did I mention Colin? It gave me something to ponder, but I didn’t feel like I was aangel my personal beliefs in reading this book. Her voice echoed in the concrete barrel of the overpass; knowing he could use the noise to cover his attack, she ground her teeth together and delivered her threat with quiet intensity.
My Lord, are they vemon. But she really lost me sometimes in this one. I would cut out half of the conversations which were unnecessary. Before I talk more about this: It’s Colin’s curse and its subsequent battles that give him emotional range as a hero.
She has created a fascinating, complicated world and peopled it with equally fascinating characters.
It took me a while to fully get into the story. Lilith was a complete badass.
Savi lived together with Hugh, as a sort of child-sister-friend for the most part of her life, after her family was killed and she the only survivor of the attack. I loved this book. I like that the vampires aren’t at the top of the food chain, that they know that both demons and nosferatu can kick their ass it just makes them more A gripping, intense book and I plan to savor the rest of them. Oh boy, did he deliver.
Even in death, I will love you.
